A Georgia-based cellulose manufacturer operates power boiler grates equipped with tail roll bearings that operate at high loads and in extreme temperatures ranging from 149° to 177°C (300° to 350°F). Lubricated with a conventional mineral grease, the bearings were experiencing two to three failures per year while operating in these harsh conditions. After making the switch to Mobilith SHC 1500 high-performance grease, the company was able to eliminate bearing failures and related downtime that had previously occurred 14 times per year. The company also reduced related repair and maintenance work.
