After an oil conversion to Mobil Pegasus™ 1005 oil, the differential pressure increased much sooner than normally expected, although still within a safe range. What is the probable cause?

One of the benefits of Mobil Pegasus 1005 gas engine oil is keep-clean performance. Its detergent-dispersant system controls the formation of carbon and varnish deposits to minimize oil consumption and maintain engine cleanliness even during extended drain intervals.

If the gas engine had accumulated deposits during operation with a different engine oil, the detergent-dispersant system of Mobil Pegasus 1005 can remove some of the previous deposits after the oil change. The oil filter may be quickly loaded, confirming that the engine is being cleaned. So keep monitoring the filter differential pressure and change oil filters early if needed. Once the bulk of the leftover deposits have been removed from the system, the filter differential pressure should return to normal, preventing the need for continued filter changes at short intervals.
