A Russian paper plant operates a number of electric motors, which had been lubricated with a high-performance grease. However, the electric motors were experiencing high operating temperatures, which prevented the grease from sustaining its structure for long enough to provide optimal bearing protection. As a result, bearings had to be replaced annually. In an effort to reduce bearing replacements and related maintenance costs, the company approached ExxonMobil to determine an alternative grease solution.


ExxonMobil engineers recommended the use of Mobil Polyrex™ EM grease, which is specially designed for electric motor bearings and engineered to perform under higher temperatures. Formulated with a polyurea thickener, Mobil Polyrex™ EM grease has superior oil release properties and improved durability, providing longer service life.


According to company reports, Mobil Polyrex™ EM grease has performed without problems for more than two years. During this time, no bearing failures have been reported, and significant cost savings have been generated as a result of:
